Without question, now is the time to buy.  Interest rates are historically low, the government is giving money away and sellers are motivated.

Let's look at the example of a $300,000 home purchased with 20% down by someone who hasn't owned a home for 3 years.

 And that is probably being conservative. A well qualified buyer can certainly get a better than 5% rate in todays market which would give an even greater benefit.

We will soon see the floodgates open with buyers who want to buy at the "bottom" and take advantage of the first time home buyer credit. Once this happens, prices will quickly escalate.  Already, properties in the first time home buyer price ranges are starting to see multiple offers and increasing prices. This trend will continue as we approach the November deadline for the first time home buyer tax credit.  Don't wait until it's too late.
